How come we as american citizens can travel anywhere in the world ?

have you ever thought how hypocritical we are as american citizens. we travel to any country we want with just a passport no visa, no permit for the amount of time we are allowed to stay but heaven forbid that someone from another country anted to come here excluding terrorists of course, we are having a fit. i think it's unfair. How come we as american citizens can travel anywhere in the world ?It is, you are rightHow come we as american citizens can travel anywhere in the world ?
The answer would be because we Americans respect the immigration laws of other countries. In other words, you won't see us doing this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aBblznoMt鈥?/a>

I DO travel all over the world. I've had to apply for visas in many countries. I've stood in line at foreign embassies to get permission to enter their country. I've never overstayed a visa. I've paid all fees that country has required. I've showed my passport everywhere and visas when required. I obey every immigration law as do most Americans. I only expect the same respect from foreigners. How come we as american citizens can travel anywhere in the world ?as a brit i can travel around europe easily and i have done severl times; on my last visit we encountered some americans and they were having a bit of bother when we were stoped at each border we crosed (we were all on a coach). so it is not as easy as you think
We are allowed to travel just as others are allowed to travel here. We do actually have a set time limit on how long we can stay in a foreign country. For example,an American can visit Ireland for no more than 90 days unless they have a work permit or lots of money in the bank and health insurance to prove they will not be a strain on the system. What's unfair about it? We take in more immigrants than all other countries combined. How come we as american citizens can travel anywhere in the world ?Very true. It's all about benefits. Other countries financially need US's government, so they let American citizens to come to their countries easily and give other advantages. I, on the other hand, am being treated like I am a terrorist and answer very offensive questions when I apply for a visa, show my bank account..etc etc

And I'm a 5'2'', 98 lbs, 22 year old girl. I don't think I look like a harmful person. How come we as american citizens can travel anywhere in the world ?
I agree. I think us Americans are spoiled. I've never gotten denied to enter another country, yet for someone to come here it's like winning the lottery. If I want to move to another country, I don't have to wait 10 years.

I'm open to letting people come here. I like learning about other countries cultures. Seems they have more than us!
Wrong americans can't travel to Cuba because of the embargo, and well it's different man, we visit the country, we rarely stay, and work over there unless we retire, and move back and forthHow come we as american citizens can travel anywhere in the world ?
Actually, we can't - especially not safely. There are countries that don't easily grant visas to Americans, and countries where Americans take thier lives in thier own hands - and throw them away - simply by visiting.
we got agreement with some foreign countries for free movement of both parties to visit each country..

heard of the visa waiver program!!

btw name one country Americans can travel and can stay without permit?
You have a good point. But Americans traveling abroad is very risky nowadays
Well, in reality things aren't quite so free and easy for Americans as you seem to think. Certainly Americans don't require visas to visit many other countries, although certainly not all, but that definitely doesn't mean they can stay in those countries indefinitely or that they can work there if they like.

In actuallity, the majority of people visiting the US legally each year do not have visas, but instead come in on the Visa Waiver program, or in the case of Canada are visa exempt. The requirements for Americans visiting countries that belong to the Visa Waiver program are the same as they are for citizens of those countries to visit the US. Any country can potentially qualify to become part of the Visa Waiver program. It depends partially on the numbers of people being turned down in that country, and partially on the numbers of people from those countries who overstay the visas they are issued.

Countries that have relatively high refusal rates for visas generally have substantial numbers of people who abuse their visas to the US and don't return, or substantial numbers of people who enter the US illegally every year. Even a country like the Philippines, which has substantial numbers of people here who've overstayed or entered illegally in one manner or another, still has perhaps 2/3'rds or more of its visa applicants approved every year. Not for first time applicants, no doubt, but people who have been issued visas and not abused them, almost always get their visas reissued.

Generally, Americans don't overstay or abuse their visas. It's not always true, but as a rule, it is. Other countries don't require visas from US citizens because they consider it to be in their interest to promote tourism with the US and because Americans are unlikely to be illegal immigrants.

I'm more than willing to believe than in many individual cases, mistakes on visa decisions can be wrong, and/or unfair. But the system is not as arbitrary as you seem to think.
