How much does it cost to travel around Europe?

My partner and I wish to travel Europe in 2008 for a period of 2 months. We want to travel to a number of countries UK, Spain, Germany, France, Italy, Greece, Switzerland and Belgium. We were hoping to book all of our accommodation before we go, we're looking to stay in low budget accommodation and travel by train between each of our destinations. If any one can give me some info on an around-about price range excluding flights it would be very much appreciated.

Alternatively I would be open to any other suggestions on accommodation or travel between cities.

Thank you...How much does it cost to travel around Europe? In Europe, buy a U-RAIL Pass for the length of time you will stay in Europe. Then you can travel all over western Europe, on and off the trains as many times as want- no extra cost. You can find that information on the Internet.

Travel light! Stay in Youth Hostels. They are all over Europe.

Information center at the train stations can tell you where they are located.

Get cheap bicycles with a chain. You can take them on the train and that gives you easy cheap transportation at each stop.

Open yourself a bank account in a German Bank and get a EUR-Bank card. Put your funds in that account and use your card to pay. SAFE and sound money management.

Many place require SHOES and a coat in the evening!

Be sure to eat in a Michelin 1,2,or 3 star restaurant.

Stay out of the Tourist Traps! You want a money pouch that fits around your body under your clothes that is not balky.

The most fun is in small towns, villages. If you are in Germany on the week end, do a volks march. IVV, info is on the Internet,

Buy the Kilometer Book and have it stamped when you complete the walk. The walk is on marked trails thru the country sides.

Wish I was going with you! Do you need a Guide? How much does it cost to travel around Europe? It's freakin expensive. If you're going to all those places, expect to pay about 10,000 US Dollars each. 2 months is a long time... You'll need food, housing every night, plus attractions (museums, churches, tours, etc.), plus drinking. I've been here for exactly 2 months and only went to 4 countries and spent 4,000. And I am studying here, so my housing is paid for when I'm not travelling and I have the luxury of cooking in a kitchen.

Get a Eurail pass for 2 months. They have a 15-trip one (7.5 roundtrips) which will save you some money on the longer trips. If you're taking more than 15 train trips, purchase the cheaper ones separately. Check the eurail website. If you're under 26, you can get a youth discount. And if you're students, ask if they have student discounts all the time. How much does it cost to travel around Europe? There are a ton of ways to travel around Europe on a budget. If going by train, Eurail is the way to go. There are a ton of very cheap flights from country to country as well with airlines such as Ryannair, Germanwings, Easyjet, etc. The problem with those are the luggage restrictions that if you go over can be very expensive.

If you're younger and looking for a budget way to see a lot of countries in a short amount of time, I'd recommend a tour such as Contiki Holidays. I just went on a two week trip through Europe with Contiki and had a great time. It was so nice not to worry about planning all the little details like booking hotels, transportation, and whatnot.

Hope this helps. Have a great trip! How much does it cost to travel around Europe?
