Even one of them can have a negative affect on your energy and mental state. Also when you leave your body, you're still attached to it via a spiritual "silver umbilical cord," which can be severed if you meet something nasty and hungry enough.

Traveling on the Astral Plane of existence can be dangerous to the uninformed and to the novice. The primary cause of danger would be predators which can sever your connection to the body and devour the astral or spiritual form that has entered it's plane. Other dangers can include possession, but your spirit has had dominion and a prior claim to the body, so pushing the invading spirit out is usually not an issue. Also the fact that if something happens to your spirit while it is attached to the body, the damage or a similar damage can and usually does manifest in the body up to and including death. There are other dangers, but you should seek the advice of someone with more experience than I to tell them to you. The reason I have heard in not that it is not real but that is not for this realm. We are in a womb world and just as a child needs to be protected we need to stay safe while we grow and learn. A toddler doesn't know "hot" means s/he will get burned but they can learn "hot" means don't touch. I do astral travel, spellwork, guided meditation but from what I have experience and the fact that I make sure to set up safeguards I have not had any negative experiences. I found that with "hot" you can make some great meals. In reality,
1) is misinformed. Death causes cord detachment, not the other way round.
2) is misinformed. Your body isn't left vacant for squatters because your bio-etheric aspect is still occupying it throughout.
