What is the best way to travel from manchester to belfast?

Hi,

I want to travel to belfast but NOT by plane or car. I am travling with 2 adults and 2 kids so i don't think a bus is such a good idea. I could stay over night in a hotle or take an overnight train.

Help?! ThanksWhat is the best way to travel from manchester to belfast? With 4, a hang glider is out of the question. How about a train? What is the best way to travel from manchester to belfast?
you DO know that there is a sea for you to cross don't you?

just checking cos you seem to think that trains run on water.

Cheapest and quickest way is obviously to fly - but you've ruled that out.

Ferries go from Liverpool to Belfast. The easiest way might be to get the train to Liverpool (they go every 15 minutes from Manchester) and catch a ferry. operated by Norfolkline

These boats are maily for freight and full of truck drivers and usually go overnight - but they have cabins on board and they are probably the cheapest of the Irish sea ferries. If you want to take a hire care on board you will have to check with your hire company first I'm sure.

They actually go from Birkenhead side of the River Mersey rather than the Liverpool one but it is easy to cross the river by train, bus or ferry. What is the best way to travel from manchester to belfast?I think I answered this same question yesterday. You need to catch a train from Manchester Piccadilly to Stranraer changing at Preston and Carlisle on most services. The rail part of the journey takes about 6 hours. Ferries run from Stanraer to Belfast. (The overnight train takes 9 hours and involves 3 changes) www.nationalrail.co.uk www.railcard.co.ukWhat is the best way to travel from manchester to belfast?
