How far will humanity progress in space travel?

Are we limited to our own planet? Or will we ever live on other worlds or moons? And if we do ever succeed at space travel, how many centuries or generations will it take us? What kind of people will be likely to leave Earth?

This is a science-fiction question, so use imagination realistically, realizing how difficult the engineering and biological problems of living "off-world" would be.How far will humanity progress in space travel?Love your thought! I am a vocal music major so you might say "Stay in your field" but I love to learn different things. Now My interest in U.F.O's is WOW! Space travel doesn't excite me it scares me a bit. (But I like Air planes and do fly) So here goes, I am more bothered that we will try to put some hugh living area Up above us, that frightens me. The skys are polluted now what do you think our Space would become even after one yr! I Learned something from Sylvia Browne's books about why we are here, to learn something we wanted to learn more about on this (Lunitic planet) known as Earth, that her spirit guide calls earth. Being a 'Christiain' how I was brought up; I believe in a higher Being and if you look at how the whole world has evolved (Changed/Christians don't get your drawers in an uproar.) From the primitive uneducated man to what we are today. You know something is going on all of the time. We were taught to not disturb the Heavens. I agree there. I think there is life on other planets, and also people are visiting our planet every day in human form. I believe all the money we waste on more space exploration we could be helping our fellow man like Katrina victums. This is more (Right) then building space ships. Other air craft from different planets are Way ahead of us and I believe Many U.S. officials that know this want to TRY and catch up with them THEY NEVER WILL.

I do not see your question as science fiction, if you read Sylvia's works she says, "Take what you want and leave the rest". I did, being brought up as a christian I felt like an Evil Person listening to her words. I feel she has helped so many people and you can agree to disagree without acting like a NUT. Sylvia says words from her Spirit Guide Francine, "a planet she names in her book, not seen by our scopes way way out is the planet that helped with the pyramids in Egypt. It talks about using Anti-Gracity Rods to lift that mameth rocks. I told my son and not to long before I told him about this he was exploring the web and read about Anti-Gravity rods and how they work. You do not have to take anybodies word just listen and become "Still" and your inner voice will let you know when something isn't right.

As far as the kind of people that will want to go will be people that like to explore, like adventure and like a mystery.

I believe you would, with such an interesting Debate question.

I believe with all of my heart there are planets with other worlds and other people. People are so poisened by religions and people thinking they are weird for believing something different then other MOBS. We have wonderful minds and we are taught by T.V. To STOP USING OUR minds.

Enjoyed your insightful question. Thanks! Peace!

I hope you enjoy my answer and makes you think more on this subject.

What a looney u r, and a scaredy cat to boot. I won't look to u for any constructive answers. Another religious and fanatical troll on YA.

How far will humanity progress in space travel?I think that there are other dimensions and if that is true, we should one day develop a hyperdrive or interdimensional drive. In 100 or 150 years I think we will be living on 2 or 3 of Jupiter's moons and we will still be limited to a sub-light speed. In 200 or 300 years we will either have a hyperdrive or a "bubble" or a "tachyon" drive. A space ship will generate an electromagnetic field configured to be a space / time bubble that will shield it from normal space / time. Once we have one of them, ships will get faster as generations go by until the end of the universe is our limit.
we will probably colonize some of the moons in our solar system and possibly mars with a mining colony or two on pluto. that is about as far as we will get in the near term future, and by near term i mean at least a few thousand years. the closest planet outside of our solar system orbits a star called Epsilon Eridani and is about 10.5 light years away. besides the technical difficulties in achieving speeds at which we could reach this planet there is also the often overlooked problem of attaining sufficient energy to reach and maintain those speeds. we may be able to fold space-time one day but again there is the trouble of finding sufficient energy to accomplish this. we would have to find a way to harness a major portion of the energy output of the sun before this would be possible. How far will humanity progress in space travel?I think it will take a lot more time for humanity to spread out into space than people think. First we must get our own planet under control, control population growth, fix the food crisis, stop the destruction of the environment, and, most importantly, find a reliable new source of energy, because we are scheduled to run out of oil in about 90 years. We must cast aside our differences and join forces with the rest of the world, because the push into space will cost an fantastic amount of money and energy.

Once we have done that, I think there is no limit to humanity's achievements.

Total estimated time for that: 1,000 years. How far will humanity progress in space travel?
I suspect we have gone as far as we ever will. Oil production has peaked. Prices are increasing. Since most food production is mechanized and brought to market by truck, food prices also increase. Faster. In the third world right now many more people are beginning to starve because of the higher prices. This will bring about political instability. Poor countries will default on their loans. If this happens too often, the western economies will fail and the result will be another world depression. We no longer know how to grow crops without machinery. So food prices will continue to soar. Remember Katrina in New Orleans? When people get hungry they begin to loot. Societal breakdown. Anarchy. Mass starvation and death. It didn't go that far with Katrina since there were outside sources of aid. With a nation or world wide depression and food shortage, there is no outside aid.

Countries who are starving quickly abandon space travel. And when the space infrastructure falls apart, its unlikely ever to get rebuilt.
We have the science and some of the technology to cruise the planets, but we just dont have the politics ready yet, buncha *******, ill volenteer for space travel in a freaking heart beat. How far will humanity progress in space travel?
We know by fact that we are not limited to our own planet. We have travelled to the moon and we may possibly have the technology to go to mars, although it is far fetched when having deal with the effects of long term space travel. It may be possibly that one day we will live on another planet or moon, highly possibly in-fact. seeing how quickly we are dissposing of our own world we might just hop from planet to planet destroying them with our ways. Travel to mars does seem plausible to happen at least within the next 25 years, but travel beyond the astroid belt will take several more. At the minimum it world take 30 years. Several moons in our solar system happen to might be hospitable for humans especial those of jupiter. Only the most fit are able to travel in space currently due to its affects on the human body such as bone degeneration and muscle atrophy. But if somehow anti-gravity can be achieved then more less fit people may be able to travel since they would not have to deal with such things.

There are several other problems such as how to get to these planets fast and efficiently. Some of the technologies that could be use might be ion technology which has been in use by NASA before, but it is not fast, but it is efficient. There may be other ways such as fuel cells which have also been used before, or by nuclear power, which has been avoided do to the disasters that can happen with it.

But making the land hospitable will be the hardest face problem. Not all moons or planets are great for life. Some are constantly pelted by radiation where are only hopes of surving is to live under the ground. Others are either to cold or to hot that we would die the instant we would set foot. But other planets/ moons hace high possiblities. There are some theories that by planting trees on mars will slowly change its carbon dioxide atmosphere to one of oxygen, possibly making it a huge resemblence to earth. Or that some of moons orbiting around jupiter already have the needs to support life, but we still do not know because we have not studied them well enough
