How much do travel writers make per story/cover?

I would like to work for the travel channel or National Geographic as a travel writer and i've heard that journalists dont make much. So how much would I make writing for companies such as these?How much do travel writers make per story/cover?Initially, almost nothing, because nobody will take on a travel writer with no other journalistic experience. Travel writing is not something you just walk straight into.



If you're very concerned with money and having a steady income, don't become a travel writer. Most travel writers are freelance, for a start, so there's no guarantee of earning any money at all, a lot of the time.



Salaries would vary tremendously according to experience and talent. There's no 'average' salary for a journalist for either of those companies.How much do travel writers make per story/cover?Might want to ask this in another category. Don't worry, it happens to the best of us. =)
