Is it possible to travel and have fun in Philippines with only 1000 dollars?

im planning to travel in Philippines but i am a little bit worried if 1000 dollars is going to fit me for a month. is that possible? Is it possible to travel and have fun in Philippines with only 1000 dollars? If you are going to try and stick to $1000, you should probably just stay home. The airfare will cost over $1000. Spending all the money to fly all that way, then not having fun because you don't want to spend a few more dollars is silly.. sort of like buying a really expensive car, but not getting a/c or not having enough money for gas... better to save your money, get a smaller car you can afford to ride.

you won't be able to travel much on that budget because a decent hotel will cost about $30 per night, x 30 nights = $900. You can find a decent place on a monthly rental basis for about $300, but they will want a refundable cash security deposit also. If you stay in one spot, and do the occasional day trip, you could maybe squeek by on a $1000 budget, but would certainly be missing out on most of the fun that tourists go to the Philippines for.

1 month rent $300

transport to and from airport $100

food (30days x $10) $300

taxi, jeepney, trike fare $100

fee to extend your visa $100

Is it possible to travel and have fun in Philippines with only 1000 dollars?I'm assuming the $1000 is purely for travel and living expenses inside the Philippines, and it doesn't include your airfare from, and back to your country.

$1000 is more than what most Filipinos make in a month, so if you're willing to rough it a bit, then yes, you'd definitely be able to live and travel in the Philippines for about a month. Travel economy class, take public transport, go for the budget hotels and the not-so-touristy areas to stretch your budget. If you're the type who likes his creature comforts, then $1000 could probably last half a month.

Depends where your going! Makati can be expensive for example. But if you head into the provinces its easily achievable. I have friends here living on half of that a month. Also avoid the tourist traps.. not visiting but using agents do everything yourself, scout out Forums on the philippines or websites like Tropicalpenpals which is full of information so you can plan things yourself and a route you want to travel. Pension houses are cheap, but there is also "bed spacers" if your really pushing the budget as they can be as little as $30 a month!! Eating out can be done very cheaply by eating localised street foods such as BBQ Chicken which would mean you can treat yourself to a good restaurant at least a few times on your trip by skimping on a few of the other meals. Plan your route ahead and talk to expats in the area (like me). I have stopped in San Remigo on the tip of Cebu before for P40 a night (less than $1.00) its all on the planning. Also public vehicles are readily available and cheap. Only caution would be with the number of accidents happening recently. Question is how much of the Philippines do you want to cover with your $1000 as you may miss out on things like diving or swimming with dolphins to save money. Is it possible to travel and have fun in Philippines with only 1000 dollars?YES if this is only a month and will not go beyond one month then I guess a thousand dollars will survive you in the Philippines. It will survive you even if you go beyond the second month but beyond that you are on the hot seat already. You will find that living in the Philippines is LIKE HELL ON EARTH without money.

In the Philippines, every time you go out, just go out for a fun filled day like window shopping or on a stroll you definitely need cash. Either you got it or just stay at home watch television. Even at home you still need a few cash for your daily living like food on the table or paying some bills. Unless somebody or someone will definitely send you from abroad another 1,000 dollars then you will have no problem. But if your money is stuck to a thousand dollars only then stick to one month and do not go beyond one month. It is like a ticking time bomb. You must comply with a 1000 to month or go crazy there after. DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME the usual words you hear on television reality show.Is it possible to travel and have fun in Philippines with only 1000 dollars?
Your 1000 USD can actually go a long way in the Philippines. It is important to Plan your visit like considering where you would go and what you want to see. The exchange rate of Peso and Dollar is also quite high, so when you exchange your 1000 USD, it would be a lot to cover your expenses here in the Philippines. It is also good if you have someone you know here so that you would know where to go.

Might I suggest visiting the beaches of Boracay or Palawan. Perhaps try eating local "kakanin" or stop by at Marikina and have a custom made shoes for you and your love ones. Nonetheless, I bet you 1000 USD can go a long way. Have Fun in the Philippines!
US$1000 = PHP46000

1 month = 4 weeks = 28 days = 1642 pesos per day

you can get decent accommodation between 800 pesos and 1600 pesos per night (except in boracay)

great meals in nice restaurants cost about 200 pesos

san miguel beer costs 30 - 50 pesos

travel by taxi is quite cheap (providing you don't get ripped off) around the cities, 100 - 200 pesos

passenger on a motorcycle is cheaper

tricycles and jeepneys are even cheaper still

hiring motorcycles can be quite cheap - 500 - 800 pesos per day (8 hours)

don't go on a kalesa ride in intramuros (manila), they will rip you off. just walk around

snorkelling or other guided tours cost around 1500 pesos

it is possible but it's not much fun. double your budget or halve your timeIs it possible to travel and have fun in Philippines with only 1000 dollars?
what? for a month? that is easily doable. if you stick with the main attractions and learn the jeep system. Piece of cake. of course I spent 10k dollars in 6 mo lol but that is a whole different ball of wax...
yes it can fit you in a month a 10usd per meal is good enough. but i doubt if you will stay using hotel or travellers inn nah it very impossible. but if you got free lodging thats better.
