Can a child travel with its parents through the Schengen territory without a residence permit?

I m cross-posting this as I have got no answer:(

We are living in the Netherlands. My baby is 8 months old and my husband %26amp; I have valid Dutch residence permits and can travel in the Schengen area without problem. We are yet to get the residence permit for the baby. We have got her (Indian) passport. Is she allowed to travel along with us through the Schengen territory? Would her birth registration certificate %26amp; passport suffice if she travels with us?

Therefore, the baby needs a Schengen visa or the residence permit in order to travel, in addition to the passport.

In some countries, there is a free travel period granted to non-EU citizens during summer and Christmas in which you would only need to show an official document that you at least applied for the residence permit. However, as each EU and Schengen country has different rules, you should call Dutch authorities where you applied for your and your husband's permits and ask if this exists.
