Shanghai: Side Trips
Discover Shanghai China
http://www.visitshanghaicity.comWhat are good travel destinations for a 5 day weekend in Shanghai?Zhejiang (Hangzhou), Jiangsu (Yangzhou, Nanjing)
Anywhere over there. What are good travel destinations for a 5 day weekend in Shanghai?go to hangzhou, nanjing, suzhou, zhouzhaung. . .
in hangzhou you can visit west lake. it's really cool. around west lake are many other sites that are worth visiting. that whole area is very easy to get around in so it wouldn't be a problem going from one place to another.
suzhou has many gardens, unfortunately those are the only things worth seeing in this city. inside the gardens and other site are quite beautiful but once you leave the city, from my experience, is not that interesting.
nanjing is a very interesting city. it is similar to beijing because of it's long history. it's a nice city, modern looking, like beijing. so much to do there. you can visit "purple mountain" and there is so much to do on and around this mountain (sort of like the things you can do on and around west lake in hangzhou).
you could also visit zhouzhuang, which is a small watertown near suzhou. that's it. it's a tourist city.
out of these 4 cities i would visit nanjing for 3 days and hanzhou for 3 days as well, suzhou and zhouzhaung for only 1 day each.
here are some photos from my trips to these cities.
