im 18 about to finish school and I want to travel through europe cheaply. I particularly want to go to Spain, France, Germany and the Netherlands. im just wondering if anyone has any advice to offer me. whether it is best to back pack or travel with organisations with Contiki for example.

If you have a train pass, an extra fee and reservations are needed. It cost almost as much as a hostel.
The cheapest type of sleeping compartment is the couchette. It sleeps up to six bunks. I found it a great way to meet fellow travelers.
But it is rough. I would compare it to camping. You also miss seeing the countryside go by. Compare prices with package deals.
