Also, is it easy to have a family? Does it pay well?
What do you suggest if you want to take pictures of landscape and people but without having to travel a lot. What sacrifices do you have to make to be a travel photographer?Having a family while being a travel photographer will not be an easy task, that is unles your husband/wife doesn't care or travels with you. But even that is hard to come by. Other sacrifices you have to give up is your time, you won't have much of a peronel life, depending on how busy you are. What sacrifices do you have to make to be a travel photographer? If you want to be a travel photographer.. You are going to have to travel.
If you don't want to travel then i would suggest a different line of photography for you. Perhaps Macro shots where not much moving is involved.
Traveling allot while having a family is not going to be easy. IF you are sent on assignment say in the middle of nowhere you COULD be there for several months if not years attempting to get the exact shots needed for whatever purpose..
IF your shots can separate you from the others of millions of photographers out there and are highly desirable then yes.. It can pay well. However Photography is expensive and needs to be more than a hobby if that is the case. What sacrifices do you have to make to be a travel photographer?travelling how and where??? and for what reason???
sounds like you would be a freelancer... and just going places to photograph, like animals in africa, etc...
1) you would need to know the customs and photography rules in ALL the countries you went to
2) you wouldn't be able to take kids with you
3) it would put a strain on your relationships - being apart for so long
4) would cost you a fortune
5) would be very dangerous (some war-torn places in the world, and some places women shouldn't go alone)
6) is it really worth it??? i would say no... if you are wanting family...
